Mac mini having trouble reading lots of cd's

Hi all,

I have previously ripped cd's on my mac mini without any trouble. But now every other cd or so can not be read, it just tries 3 or 4 times and then spits it out. The cd's are not copyprotected, some of them are from before copyprotection.

Also when I check out the finder it has an external disc at all times, but it cannot be ejected and has no info:

I hope somebody has some input so that I can solve the problem.

It needs a replacement optical drive. Not uncommon for those to fail on the mini. I've replaced enough of them to be sure.
 
First Reset Your PRAM to see if that helps & run a CD/DVD cleaning disk on slot drives once in a while. You will be surprised on how much dust gets collect in slot drives.
 
I tried resetting the pram, it seems that helped. I also cleaned the drive just to be sure, but I do not know if that has done any difference.

The ekstra disc in finder is still present. Two times I have loaded a cd that didn't show up in finder or itunes, a restart solved that both times.

At present the problem seems to be solved, I can rip cd's again. Thanks alot.
