Mac OS X.1 --> installer update

Sighter

Lord of Coffee
Hi all, I've been having difficulties with 2 completely different mac
a G4 733 (pre-QuickSilver) and an iMac 500MHz G3 on

I installed Mac OS X.1 and as soon as I want to update it tells
me that the system is up to date, I try running installer update
and it just dont want to let me select a disk for installation..

So of course I cannot update the system to 10.1.5

Tried to log as a root user... ( no difference )

Anyone of you had that issue?

Here is what i did to get it to work.
i went to Apple software downloads and downloaded
SecurityUpdate10-19-01
SecUpd7-18-02forv.10.1
InstallerUpdate1.0

i installed them in that order
and restarted after each one
and now softer update works for me
cool ha
i dont know why Apple did it like this
but that is what i had to do to get it to work

Sighter i ran into another prob!
it downloaded the 10.1.5 update and as it was installing it
it got to the end and and it said it could not fin that i should save the
file to my desktop and run it from there!
i did that and my mac froze then i restarted and it came up just fine except
my mouse wouldent work
APPLE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?????????
why is it all @#$$@!%@#! up?
so be carfull

ok here it is
go here http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosxcomboupdate01678.html
and download security update 10-19-01
and then download InstallerUpdate1.0
and then download MacOSXUpdateCombo.10.1.5
after everything is on your desktop
install security update 10-19-01 first and reboot
then install InstallerUpdate1.0 2nd and reboot
then install MacOSXUpdateCombo.10.1.5 last
and everything will work just fine
this worked perff. for me

But I am affraid it only LOOKS like a solution.

Because on the first G4 I rebuilded it finally install but I cannot remember
the order and I am quite certain it was not the order you just gave in your last
post.

There is something else, dont know what it is but there is something else.

To be continued....

If you are stuck on 10.1, the only piece you need now is SecUpd7-18-02forv.10.1, which is HERE You won't be able to update properly until you separately download and install on 10.1, this will then allow software update control panel to see other updates through your connection. the older software updates and security updates are all rolled into this one. Then you will be able to go to 10.1.5 !! BONUS - once you have security update installed, you can open terminal, type in softwareupdate, terminal window shows all updates available, and you can do sudo softwareupdate {name of update from list}, then watch as terminal downloads and installs your update !:p
