Mac OS X CD not appearing on the desktop

Help! My Mac OS X CD doesn't even show up when I insert it into my cd-rom drive. I can hear it spining, but nothing!
 
I had similar problems. Try putting the CD in and then closing the CD-ROM suddenly. Also, try making sure your CD is really clean. If everything fails, go to a friend who has a CD-burner and make a fresh copy for yourself, that should work.
 
Try using the Apple Hardware Test CD that came with your computer.

If that doesn't work, and no discs do, you'll probably have to have it repaired. But this may be covered by the 1 year manufacturers warranty.
