Mac OSX's Easter Eggs

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not:

Turn your minimizing effect to "genie" for minimizing applications onto the dock (scale works, but it's not as cool).

Next, open a window or document and hold the SHIFT button down while minimizing. That's gonna keep me entertained for the next hour.

Any other sweet tricks you guys know about?

Another cool feature I've found out about is in the "Keychain Access" program in your utilities folder.

You can lock your desktop to keep people from using your computer.

Open the program, go to the "view" menu, and click "show status in menu bar."

You'll get a lock in the menu bar that you can keep those pesky siblings/children/parents in line with.

No easter eggs up to now... If someone does have something really relevant, please post. But I don't think OSXD is filled up with aliens (Quark), holdiays pictures (Illustrator 6) or mountains (OS7, if I remember well).

if u have easter eggs, it just shows how bad the programmers working there really are!!

the less the better

none! the best!

Because having fun is a horrible, terrible thing!

BAD PROGRAMMERS! Stop having fun!

:)

Yeah really...what's with all the happy people? What's their problem?

So, any other sweet tricks you guys know about?

I saw this on another site (I forget where though).

1. Open iTunes 4.
2. Click on Window and leave it there (with the drop down menu visible)
3. Hit the right arrow button to see an extra egg/bug. It can only be accessed with the keyboard once visible.

Fancy :p
It can be accessed with the mouse too, if the cursor is already in the menu itself (and not pointing at the menu bar) before you hit the right arrow :)

Ooo ooo ooo! What's it do? What's it do?

(Don't tell me to go upgrade to iTunes 4 because I've heard it's buggy, iTunes 2/3 work just fine, and I want to wait for Panther anyway.)

Brings up another menu which isn't really very useful. What sort of bugs have ben reported with iTunes 4, I havrn't had any problems with it so far.

Do you mean Adobe, Quark and Apple programmers are lazy people ?
You may be right for Quark, still :D

When you click the Browse-button (or the show Album Artwork) with the shift key, it will slide verrrryy slowly!

I remember there was a waving flag on, I think the, LC model? Somewhere while booting you entered a key sequence and it gave you a neat waving flag over (I presume) 1 Infinite Loop. I'm certain it was prior to System 8...

That was almost a decade ago though, so don't trust my memory from grade 6 (I don't :p ).

I had a IIfx with the waving "lizard" flag at startup. I don't remember the key sequence, but I do remember that it was the IIfx.

As a side note, the flag's direction could be controlled by moving the mouse. If you had the mouse on the left side of the flag, and it was currently blowing to the right, the flag would start to shift in the opposite direction.

And, yes, it was the flag flown over Apple's campus in CA.
