Mac utilities - recommendations?

I am thinking of buying a Mac utility and heard of Disk Warrior and Tech Tools.

Are these utilities recommended?
Any other recommendations?

My iMac (Intel based) sometimes won't start up. I can safe boot which solves the problem (I can safe boot, and then next time I can boot normally).

IMHO, Alsoft's DiskWarrior is the most indispensable utility available. You may not need it often, but, when needed, it'll 'save the day' !

First follow the steps at Apple's document Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck.

I also recommend DiskWarrior. It has saved my OS X hacking bacon more than once. This program will fix almost everything that is wrong with the hard drive, barring and real hardware issues.

Lastly I highly recommend for OS X maintenance you download either Maintenance or Yasu and run all the maintenance routines about once every three months. Just let the program reboot your mac. Then upon that reboot, manually reboot again to completely rebuild your startup/shutdown cache.
