MAC/Windows Hard drives

Hi,

I have a Maxtor III 750 GB external hard drive that I would like to attach to my router via USB to allow my IMAC and windows computers via wireless networking to share backup and storage capabilities. Is this possible? Thanks! sjp

Plus Mac OS X can natively read/write to Windows FAT32 format drives but only can read natively read NTFS formatted drives.

There is no such thing as Windows formatted drives, not believe the hype. There are different file formatted hard drives. you can always reformat a drive at anytime.

I am using network disk (Lacie Ethernet Big), which Windows sees as a Windows server disk and Mac sees as Mac server disk (and Linux as Samba disk). The disk itself uses XFS filesystem, i.e. filesystem that neither Windows nor OS X understand. So filesystem does not matter, what matters is how your router shows the disk.
