MacBook Pro Mini DisplayPort Question.

Hi all.

The "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable".

Can that be used to transfer video and audio between a HD Ready TV with the late 2008 MacBook Pro 13" Model ?

Regards.

No...
The chipset used in the 2008 MacBook does not support audio through the mini Display Port.
You'll need to provide a second cable connection from audio line out to your TV.

btw - the 2008 aluminum 13-inch model is a MacBook, and not a MacBook Pro. Apple did not change that name on the 13-inch until the 2009 models were released.

Oh. My laptop has MacBook Pro written on it. Maybe it is a 2009 model..

In that case, would the audio be supported through the mini display port in the 2009 model?

Appreciate your response DeltaMac. Thank you very much :)

Regards.

Sure, unless you have a choice for optical audio on the TV.
Your MacBook has an optical audio connector as part of the the line out connector, which just needs a normal extended toslink adapter for that, and whatever the optical connector would be on your TV.
