Macbook Start Up Issue - help please? :(

Hey, a newbie here. Unsure if this topic is in the right forum - apologies in advance if not.

I had\have an issue with my Macbook during start up - it would chime and start up only to the grey screen but get stuck there with the wheel going round and round.

I (well a friend) resolved this temporarily by clearing the hard drive, rebooting it and reinstalling everything. It seemed to work for a few days but then it happened again a couple of days ago. I removed the battery and left it for a while, tried again and it worked for another day or so.

But now it's gone back to not getting past the grey screen.

I've tried:

- Safe booting it
- Resetting the PRAM
- Repaired the Hard drive using the Utilities on the start up disk
- Tried to reset the factory settings

Any ideas on A) what could be causing this? B) how to resolve this issue??

I'm a technical ludite so any advice in laymans terms would be very much appreciated. From researching it seems there could be some sort of system corruption - but to be honest, I'm unsure what that even means??

Thanks for any advice - it would be really appreciated!

Michelle :)

If it is new take in to be looked at because it sounds as if you are having hardware issues.
