MacPro not booting up

I shut down my Mac using the command from the drop down menu. When I tried to restart it later, it booted at first, then the screen was filled with vertical red lines and the system froze. I used apple hardware test, it found no fault. I ran disk check in disk utility and it said the hard disk was ok. If i cod get the system to boot, the vertical lines (red, blue or green) reappear and the system locks up.

Try running the Apple Hardware Test in looped mode, and let it run for two hours or so.

Sometimes errors don't pop up on initial pass -- especially if they're related to overheating. Those types of problems would only show up after extended testing/use.

Check the video card for blown/bulging caps. There is a repair extension program for the GeForce 7300 GT video cards. Apple will replace the card for free if it falls within a certain serial # range even if the Applecare warranty is expired. I just diaged and replaced one last week for a guy that was ready to shell out $600. He was thrilled when I told him no charge.
