When I receive mail some of the email that I get is the wrong message. For example, I got a message from my professor yesterday but when I clicked to view the message, it a message from my mom. Even the information section of the email where it says who the email is from, the date, and the subject reflected the email that my mom sent me days ago. I can't find the real email from my teacher. This has happened several times and I cannot read about half of my mail.

You need to reindex your huge Mail folders. Read HOWTO] a possible Fix for slow Mail and try it (with Mail closed at the time). This may help.
