I signed up for a .Mac free trial account for 60 days, i'm trying to set up my mail app to work, i can recieve email, but i cannot send email at all. Everytime i try to send mail this message appears

"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator."

my mail smtp is set to smtp.mac.com any help?

Do you have it set like this:

Incoming server; mail.mac.com
Outgoing server: smtp.mac.com:yourname

Outgoing should have your user name

Do you have username@mac.com in the Description field?
And your user name in the User Name field?

Click the Server settings button and make sure fields are filled.

i changed the whole smtp server set up now i'm getting a message like this

The server “smtp.mac.com:mynamet” cannot be contacted on port 25.

You can try to send using a different server. All messages will use this server until you quit or change your network settings.

okay, i changed from port 25 to 80 and now mail is stating :
The server “smtp.mac.com:myname” cannot be contacted on port 80.

Make sure, when you click "Server Settings..." under "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):" in the Accounts pane, that "Authentication:" is set to "Password" and your correct username and password are set. Your username is your .mac email without the "@mac.com" at the end.

Hi. What type of service provider are you using? I'm having the same problem with Mail, but I have Ethernet. I can't send email at all.
