ok most times when i click the mail icon in the dock it bounces about 4 times then that little black arrow appears next to the icon then it styas like that for ages and sometimes dosent load i have to Force quit and somtimes it load after like 45 seconds?
and somtimes opens straight away :)
any ideas?
 
Did you watch your system resources? Maybe your system is kinda busy or you don't have enough memory available and the system gotta swap?!
 
My Mail seems to do weird things like lock up and display garbled stuff (like extra scroll bars) whenever there's an image attachment in the currently selected email. Kinda weird, but it only does it once in a while.

Have you repaired permissions or run a disk check anytime recently?
