Mail question

Randman

HA! HA! HA!
I use Mail and have my .Mac e-mail as my primary for my free-lance work. I think I'm having problems with it not actually sending the e-mail even though it goes to the sent folder.
Is there a way to verify that the mail has been sent? It's basic e-mail with Word attachments. I've had a couple of people say that they have received my e-mail but others, a good number, haven't.
Also, is there a way to verify if the e-mail was actually opened? Thanks

I think this is no .Mac account issue. I am having the same problem with Mail over here but I canceled my .Mac for a long time. It happenes pretty rare (at least from those that I know), but still..
So, I would also be interested to know how to verify the sent mail

Actually, it might be a problem with the receiving end, too. We all have had mails that didn't reach the recipient in the past, I guess... You can, of course, just send e-mails to yourself to see what happens. But it being a .mac issue, I don't see that (or even hear that from others...).

Problems aside, is there a way to verify that a mail was actually sent? I know Lotus Notes has that option.

Well, it is _sent_ if Mail.app says it is. Means that the defined SMTP-Server has accepted the message for delivery. If that has happened, problems could involve your defined SMTP-Server, the recipient's address (DNS problems) and the recipient's POP or IMAP server.

I have to agree with Fryke -- if Mail says it's sent, and it copies it to the Sent folder, then it's sent... however, the receiving end, as stated, may be the culprit.

I email my girlfriend back and forth from home with my .Mac address to her work address. For some reason, her firewall or IT people think that .Mac mail is spam and it gets deleted before it ever reaches her inbox. If I send with Hotmail or my SBCGlobal account, mail goes through fine. It's just the .Mac mail that gets flagged and deleted for some reason.
