I have a G4 and have upgraded to Panther operating system. No matter what i do my Mail application does not work. Are there any other mail applications besides the one that comes with Panther compatible with this operating system?

Yes, there are plenty:

Eudora
Thunderbird
Netscape's Mail
...and a whole slew of other ones.

Check versiontracker.com for some of the above mentioned mail clients as well as many others.

It may help to describe what exactly is happening when you say "my Mail application does not work." Does it not launch? Does it launch, but then lock up? Does it launch, then unexpectedly quit? Does it launch, but not send/receive emails? "Does not work" can mean just about anything under the sun... if you can clarify a bit, maybe we can help you get Mail working, as it is a nice email client.

I have set up all the right parameters for the Mail application (incoming, outgoing, etc) but I can't seem to connect to my mail server. Also, when the Mail Application is open I cannot quit. I have to forcequit. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Open the activity window to see whether Mail.app's doing something while it doesn't want to quit. Also: Try setting up your mail account on a separate OS X account. Create a test user. See if it works there. If so, then probably some preference file is corrupt on your OS X account.

Whats the command for the activity window? Or where could I find it?
