I need to Make a dvd to play on most dvd players
using either idvd or imovie

She is having some trouble the finnished dvd will only play on computer
I think they are bunch of .mov files

That's called a "data DVD." It sounds like your friend simply used the Finder to store .mov files to her blank DVDs. You want a "media DVD." iDVD converts QuickTime-compatible video files into media DVDs. iDVD created DVDs will hold two hours of video.

It should be as simple as opening iDVD then instructing iDVD to open the iMovie project, then burning the DVD from within iDVD.

Someone with more experience may be able to give you a step-by-step, but as I understand it, that should work (given you select the correct menu items).

iDVD will compress the project to fit on either a single-layer (approx. 4GB of space) or dual-layer (approx. 8GB of space) recordable DVD disc.

If single-layer, then compression is necessary and video quality will suffer (probably not to any noticeable extent). If dual-layer, then no compression is necessary.

Many thanks
I managed to do it as instructed

What surprised me is the video was only 3 mins long for 6.5 gigs
but that was everything

Well generally raw movie files are that large, it also depends on the resolution of the file.
