MBP memory compatible with Macbook?

Hi all,

A friend gave me two sticks of 1GB each RAM from his Macbook Pro (he recently upgraded).

I have the white 2nd gen macbook core 2 duo, max of 2GB of RAM.

I'm wondering if what he gave me will work in my machine. I popped out RAM stick from mine, and the data on it reads:

512MB 2Rx16 PC2 5300S-555-12-E3, model M470T6554CZ3-CE6 0649

and what he gave me reads:

1GB 2R8x8 PC2 5300S-555-12-E3 and the model is listed as M470T2953EZ-CE6.

Everything seems like it'll work, same pin number, both made by samsung, and I believe their both the right clock rating/etc. - but will I blow things up if I put this in and it's not right? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Incompatible RAM will not "blow up" a system. If it's incompatible, the computer will refuse to boot and/or give you some warning beeps when you power it up.

That RAM should work.

Plug it in, and if it boots and the Mac works it should be fine.
(and follow up with any unexpected applications shutdown issues, graphics errors etc in the long run).
