menu bar pop email notification

hi,

i'm looking for a small app to show me, in my menu-bar, when a pop/imap account has email. i dont need it to do anything else at all except show me the number of new messages in the inbox... the simpler the better...

as a comparison i currently use GmailStatus for my gmail account and love it. all it does is show the number of new messages, simple as that. i can deal with opening up any app (i usually use webmail anyway)... just want to know if there are new messages waiting there for me.

yeah... the problems:
1) I don't use Mail... ever.
2) I don't want to have anything open (and taking resources), whether it's Mail, Thunderbird, whatever...

Well you could just use the the email application (if it supports the unread number in the dock). Just leave the email application open and hide the application by clicking command button(open Apple)+h when the application is open. It will keep operating in the background but the dock icon will still update as normal.
