Mirrored Door G4 Tower

Hey just some info for everyone here. I have a G4 mirror door computer that was recently zapped (i think) in a thunderstorm. I had the Best Buy Geek Squad look at it. They said scrap it, it's done. I didn't believe so since this machine, even though it's older, it's a power house. So I googled places in Northern NJ that can service a Macintosh. I found this one place www.mac2utors.com that I decided to call. Their rates were resonable and they got the job done. I am posting this so people are aware that sometimes the "Big Shot" really doesn't know all that much and there are alternatives. Thanks

John

To the best of my knowledge, Best Buy does not sell Macs. Certainly those around here don't. They also didn't sell PPC-based Macs like yours. Your local franchise may be different, but I doubt it. However, you illustrates some important important lessons:

1. Don't accept the first "No" and the final answer.

2. Find a business which handles Macs.

3. And probably most important--if you are happy with your computer, then keep it.

I used to bring it to CompUSA, until they shut them all down here. Although Best Buy never sold them until the past 2 years or so. Even though they didn't sell this model, they agreed to service it. Thanks for the advice. I'm just trying to give everyone a heads-up, since we all have been ripped off one to many times.

Best Buy sells macs but they aren't particularly knowledgeable about them. Of course they are going to tell you to scrap it and buy a new computer; a pc, most likely. :)
