Monitoring external drive temps?

Hi,

Does anyone have an experience monitoring stats of external HDs, connected over firewire or USB? I was hoping someone knew of an app, or a built in feature of OS X that could allow me to do so.

I just removed the noisy, built-in fan of one of my external HD enclosures and thought it might be a good idea to monitor the temp for a while to see if it actually makes a noticeable difference or not.

Well I have something free if you use 10.4+. It is a free dashboard widget called iStat Pro. On my G5 it s set to monitor the G5 fan speeds and Temps too, along with other things. Give it try, it maybe something you would like.

Well, I don't think there are any External Hard Drives that can monitor temperature. So you probably can't monitor it.
