move icons on menubar

some icons on menubar (proteus status, synergy controls, weatherpop forecasts, etc) cant be moved by simply using command + drag.

at first when i had only two of these particular icons, i simply dragged the other icons to put them in the order i wanted, but now that they are too many, how could i do?

i've already tried to quit and restart the apps in order to let them appear at first in the list but it's not the same thing.

You should be able to control drag those icons at the far right. Some icons you can not move, at least I have one that will not drag and it is the last icon on the menu bar.

The ones that can be dragged are Apple programs or OS X specific programs that use a non-public interface for status menus. Other programs that use status menus are supposed to use a public interface that are non-moveable and behave just like regular menu bar menus.

Yep -- the 3rd party menulings up there will appear to the left of any Apple menuling things. The Apple ones can be dragged around and rearranged amongst each other, while the 3rd party ones are "stuck" in place.

Actually you can try closing and opening the applications in the order you want them (first ones go to the right). I prefer F10 to the very left of the right-hand side of the menubar, and there's been a couple of times, I've had to disable it and re-enable it to get it back where I want.
And once you do get the things set the way you want, make sure they open when you start up/log in so you only have to adjust items the one time.
