MP3's vanish.. iTunes keeps reloading library with old info!!

My Mp3's keep vanishing mysteriously and my itunes keeps gliching out and reloading the library... help!

Have you done the most common maintenance tasks? (eg. Rebooting, repairing permissions, repairing the drive)

I am doing that right now, thnx alot. In case this may help, I keep getting error ioErr -36.
