What's teh deal with this?

One process to communicate with the network and another to interface with the user...?
 
Oh I'm not worried, just curious...

Client-server kind of makes sense, it would explain for the seemingly asynchronus nature of messages (that is, messages don't necessarily always appear in the same order on both sides).
