Multiple Users and restart

With the advent of Fasts User Switching I have 3 people using my G4 I am the Admin for the box so when I run Software Update and then have to restart (Apple mandated) I get a dialog box telling me that I might mess up processes in place for the other users and do I want to proceed.
It then says it will log everyone out and restart. I have to enter my Admin ID and proceed. The problem is that the operating system never logs anyone out and restarts. I have to manually log everyone out and then manually restart. This does not seem to me to be working properly does anyone have any comments ?

Are you sure it says it will log everyone out, or does it say YOU must log everyone out?
 
It works for me, although I usually have to remind myself NOT to hit enter after entering my password. If you enter your password and then press enter, as is my habit at least, you are actually canceling the process :) you have to manually click continue (or whatever the button is named).
