my iphoto library will not open

When I open iphoto there are no pictures
I can see my iphoto library file in my user home
its 22.8 gig in size, but when I click on it iphoto open with no pictures

Try an iPhoto library rebuild:
Launch iPhoto, while holding Command and Option.
You'll get a Rebuild iPhoto library window.
If you have never done this before, then I suggest that you check all the choices, then click the Rebuild button.
This can take quite a long time, anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours, so be prepared to just let it go - and be patient to let it complete on its own.
