My ISP was hit hard yesterday by this. I am becoming tired again of my internet being connection being interrupted by holes and such in Microsoft products! I even changed ISPs to get see if it would lessen but it was a no go. Will this ever change?

Really, it's just the way things work. One thing effects another and that effects you.

Anyway: who's your ISP?
 
I would love to say but with recent court cases involving companies suing internet bad mouthing, I have to decline.

To let you know, I've tried the two major high speed brands available to my location. It just looks like I'm stuck getting the Microsoft virus hockey puck slap shot into the stands. These viruses seem to be a regular event. I guess certain people will never learn or want to learn.
 
Adelphia just cranked the cost of my cable line up to $58 plus tax a month. A hike from 45. EXCUSE ME ADELPHIA YOU FILTHY SLIME, BUT ISN'T TECHNOLOGY SUPPPOSED TO GET CHEAPER AS TIME GOES ON!!!

Last month I even tried to switch over to Yahoo SBC DSL, I tried it for a couple weeks because they promised me a 128KB/ps upstream. HAHAHAHAHAHAH What a laugh that was. more like 12-15KB/ps. So I was forced to switch back to cable, which at least has a 24-36KB/ps upstream and a Whopping 3.2MB/ps downstream.

More then happy to badmouth my ISP. Anyday.
 
Notice the difference between kB/kb and mb/MB/Mb.

1 byte=8 bits=one ASCII character

kB - kiloByte
kb - kilobit
mb - millibit (that's actually nothing)
MB - MegaByte
Mb -Megabit

For some reason, kb and Mb is the most common way of measuring data transfer speeds. So if your ISP said your upstream would be 128 kbps, that's acually maximum 16 kBps, in reality 12-15 kBps. Tricky bastards.
 
The reason ISPs say everything in kb/s or Mb/s is because it gives bigger numbers. If they could find some unit of data transfer smaller than a bit, they'd use that for sure...

Tricky Bastards is damn right. And to top that off, SBC tried to give me the run-around about returning it. I ended up calling 3 times and getting transferred to about 12 different people before I finally went off the rep and said I wanted to speak to his superior, that managed to do the trick.
 
My friend and his brother were both hit with the Lovesan virus. My buddy just got a new Dull, and his brother bought his old PC from him for $200, a 300 Mhz P3. Both have XP. Anyway, that was the first time I had seen a virus or worm in action, which means this is very widespread. I suspect there's nothing your ISP can do except to rid its systems of the bug, and switching won't help anything unless the ISP you switch to uses Mac servers (which is unlikely). This also may be the cause of the blackouts occurring all over the US (and other places?) if the power controllers are shutting down at random.

Hopefully some good will come out of this and either a) Microsoft will get its act together and start putting preventative security into place, rather than reactive security measures, or b) people will switch to Macs when they are unable to use their Windows PC's. Which is more likely?
