My White Macbook got a Bulged Battery

I have a White Macbook A1181, the battery bulged two weeks ago and the bottom became uneven.
Before, I saw a manual said : You had better put battery on board to get a better performance. The Genius Bar staff deny this manual and told me that this battery used old material and use 4 years than bulged is not covered in warranty.
It is unacceptable, my old 6-year Compaq kept plug-in and battery still fine.
Do anybody know, "Does apple recall this battery?" ?
I can not imagine the battery in slim macbook air will bulge some day?
Please help me!
 
Some (not all) batteries fail in that way.
The battery cells are swelling, and I have seen the same issue on some Dell laptops, it's not exclusive to Apple laptops.
The failure was not affected by your use of the MacBook, it's just a failed battery.
Purchase a replacement battery.
 
Yep, and since the battery is 4 years old, it's well out of the warranty period.

Some batteries slowly stop holding a charge over time. Some stop working overnight. Some cells fail and bulge when the battery is dead (although this is less common than the other two).

Just because your Compaq battery still works doesn't mean that you're entitled to a new MacBook battery for free. 4 years is more than what most laptop batteries will give you, and you've gotten 100% of the usable life out of the battery.

As DeltaMac said, it's time to pony up $130 and buy a new one that'll last you another 4 years or so.
 
The battery did last for 4 years, it is long enough.
The main problem is the battery bulged. Fortunately, the battery of White Macbook is user replaceable, so 4-year life is OK, I can just buy a new one to replace. But if I use Macbook Air, the adapter keeps plug-in and after 4 years, the inter battery bulges and breaks the Macbook Air. Is this reasonable?
Does Apple guarantee this will not happen anymore?
If $1000 Macbook Air can only last 4 years, will it a good Laptop?
As to Macbook Pro will also face this risk.:mad:
 
You are assuming too much.
The newer non-user-replaceable batteries should last considerably longer than the older replaceable batteries. 6 years or more should be normal, I think.
Even then, the battery is not permanently installed, and is fairly easy to replace. It's just not the 5 second replacement on the one that you have now. A MacBook Air battery has a few more screws, and can't be replaced while power is on, like your MacBook. But, a dead MacBook Air battery is certainly replaceable.
