Need a software based OCR that reads PDF/TIFF

I have a 600 page document in PDF (and TIFF) format that I need to transform into HTML/PHP pages. Sadly when it was scanned the first time they didn't use any OCR and just scanned each page as an image.

So I'm looking for an app for OS X (or RedHat Linux) that will read a PDF or TIFF, perform OCR and produce some sort of editable--or at the very least selectable--text file, word doc, rtf, or whatever. I don't have Classic but I do have limited access to Windows XP if there are alternatives.

Acrobat Professional wll do the trick.

But there is also an app called pdf2office at a price of around $100 which should do what you desire. Don't know if you consider to pay so much (I think acrobat pro will cost even more)..

Unfortunately those applescripts won't do OCR.

I think my company will pay for software I ask for, but I'd rather not ask them to dish out 100$ just for this project.
