For some reason as of today, when I select NETWORK from the GO menu, the window opens up for less than a second and then disappears. Then, when I try it again, nothing happens. If I restart, then the same thing happens again. Can anyone tell me what's going on? I can't get on to any of my other computers anymore.

Forgive me if I am suggesting something very basic, but have you tried repairing permissions using DiskUtility? If you are unfamiliar with this procedure, this is what you do:

• Go to Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility.
• Click on the 'First Aid' tab below the toolbar.
• Select your Mac Hard Drive partition from the list on the left.
• At the bottom of the window click 'Repair Disk Permissions'.

If you get any message saying "Permissions differ on…", when the scan is complete repeat until no error messages appear (or the only messages are "We are using special permissions on…" which can safely be ignored).

also you can reset the Finder by going to the folder /Users/YouUserName/Library/Preferences/ and move the preference file com.apple.finder.plist to the trash. Then restart.

I tried everything suggested and nothing worked. It's one laptop that is no longer visible by any other computer on my network. I have no idea what the problem is.
