New ipod

I made the mistake of plugging my iPod into my Mac at work for an emergency power charge and changing sync mode to manual instead of canceling the dialog...

I got home and lost a day's worth of music stats (ratings, play counts, etc.) so be sure to take your power along with you...

Cheers.

I got my I-Volution case from Vaja last week (3 days via FedEx) and it's wonderful. Top grain leather (even smells good). I got the black custom without belt clip since I also have a case with armband extension for the gym. The fit is solid and durable. The name engraving on the back was a nice touch. I also got the screen protector and menu bar (which covers the menU but still allows for easy access). Top notch stuff. The only drawback is it's just a little thicker now so I have to take it out of the case when I listen at home with my Metal Gear Stand.

Other good stuff to have (besides a good set of earphones) include the FM transmitters (iTrip just released a station guide for the US)

The Creative TravelSound has great sound in a small profile and it works off a cord or batteries. Perfect for the office or for traveling. A new model is coming out in a couple of months with a white face so it better matches the iPod.

And the iShare is great for when you're on trips, especially on a long flight.

Now, once the FM radio add-on from Griffin finally ships...

Randman: Don't you hate girls that decide one little characteristic of something isn't good enough, so they need to completely replace the thing? I mean, in your case it paid off favorably for you, but "not slim enough" isn't very good justification to upgrade to a newer iPod. More space, more features, better quality, those are reasons to upgrade. "Too fat" is ridiculous.

And you can tell her I said so, too.

If you want.

Yes, if I had to deal with it on a daily basis (though my g/f tends towards the high-maintainance end of the spectrum, but in this case, I loved it. :) But to be fair, when it comes to gadgets, guys tend to be the same way ("My iBook does all I want, but I would luvre to have a 17 PB... :D

I got an iskin, and a pair of sennheiser px200's - best portable cans I've ever listened to, and money well spent - really benefits from the full-quality aac encoding...

Hey, this being an iPod related discussion, Anyone know if the Apple 90 day and limited one year warranty affects iPod's not purchased directly from Apple? I think I am willing to get my iPod replaced due to a defect in the screen, where it's discolored a little. I'm pretty sure apple covers defective items, and this screen is definetly defective. But because I got the iPod from dell, the real question is does the warranty apply?

Well my latest 30G iPod (My 4th one after 3 exchanges) is still up and running, but one of my PC user friends decided to get one last night, so we made the trip to the Apple store and pick one up. We got home plugged it in and it won't mount. I tried everything. Reset, Ran the diagnostics, tried to open in disk mode. It just won't mount. Is it just me having such bad luck with these new iPods or what? I have a 20GB that I gave to my wife when I upgraded and I have never had a problem with. What is the deal with the new iPods?

There aren't platform specific iPods. Just formatted differently. I know you prob know this with 2500 posts!, but thought I'd clarify for anyone else having trouble.

I'm just wondering, has anyone else had to replace a third generation iPod?
