Hi,

I've got a MBP that I downloaded a Photoshop torrent with yesterday. As I was in Terminal as instructed by the torrent, all of the sudden the whole machine froze. I rebooted, but my browsers are offline now.

It's really weird, my work chat and Adium work fine. I can even check email and download torrents. But, both Firefox and Safari just keep loading and loading and never come to any conclusion.

Your help would be much appreciated!

Set up another user account and see if your browsers work in that. While you were in terminal you could have messed something up.Next, try repairing permissions with disk utility and see if that brings them back to life.

Morals: 1) Don't mess with Terminal unless you know exactly what you're doin'. 2) Buy your software instead of pirating it from unknown sources! Rant over. :)

You got the one of two Trojans for Mac that were baked into your torrent. Hence don't trust torrent downloads again.

1. DNSChanger Removal Tool

2. Boonana Trojan Horse Removal Tool

3. Check your DNS settings by going to System Preferences->Network pane, Advanced tab, DNS tab.

I use the free OpenDNS.com for DNS. I block known Trojan hosting sites and you can to by following this instructional video.
