Noisier 12" Powerbook after update

I recently updated Tiger from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10.
Perhaps it's not related to this update, but my 12" G4 Powerbook seems to be noisier now . The hard drive (or perhaps the fan) seems to be working harder, and so the Powerbook is never silent (or as silent as it used to be).

Is this normal. I read somewhere that some earlier Tiger update causes the fan to come on at a cooler temperature, (perhaps to do with intended more effective cooling) Any ideas welcome.

Well some third party add-on maybe interfering with the update or the update may have been corrupted in download. Try reinstalling the 10.4.10 Combo Update and see if that fixes it. Also check the Console logs (/YourHardDrive/Applications/Utilities/Console) and see if they give you a clue to what's going on. Good Luck.
 
Thanks. I installed the combo update and will see if things improve. I'll also monitor the console (haven't done that before in OSX, except using Linux on a PC ( /var/log/messages.)
