Norton Problems in OS X Tiger

I upgraded to Tiger, and my Norton software doesn't work right anymore. When I reboot, I get three messages that come up in those "red exclamation point error" windows. These messages are:

Norton Personal Firewall error
Personal Firewall could not launch the kernel extension. The firewall is still enabled, but some features will not be available.

Unable to load Norton Privacy Control extension
Norton Privacy Control has detected a new version of Mac OS X. You may need to update your installed Norton Privacy Control components. Please check www.symantec.com/mac/ or use the LiveUpdate application.

Norton Antivirus Error
Norton AntiVirus AutoProtect could not continue. Please reinstall Norton AntiVirus and restart.

Well, I have gone to the Norton site, and they aren't supporting Tiger, it seems. I want to get rid of these messages, and I guess I want to get rid of these Norton programs. I no longer have the Norton disks. How I can uninstall these things and get rid of them without the Norton disks? Help me. I knew System 9 like the back of my hand, and I could have resolved these issues. But System X is a whole new kettle of fish. Can anyone help me?

Norton hasn't played nice with Mac OS X for some time now, and their disk utilities can actually cause more harm than good to a system that was already experiencing problems.

I'm not sure this still pertains to Norton software, but I do believe that you might only have to trash the application files end empty the Trash to get rid of the Norton apps. That is, unless they used some sort of installer program to install the applications. In that case, you might have to resort to the installation software supplied to you by Norton and check if that app has an uninstall feature.

Either way, once you get the apps removed, you might want to run something like OnyX on your Mac to get rid of any remaining .plist files or anything else pertaining to Norton.

As for disk utilities, DiskWarrior is what everyone here recommends if you want a powerful disk utility program that goes far beyond what Disk Utility can do.

'Well, I have gone to the Norton site, and they aren't supporting Tiger, it seems.', then go to this Symantec web page; where it clearly states that 'Norton AntiVirus 10.0.x' is compatible with MacOS X 10.3.x to 10.4.3, and 'Norton Personal Firewall 3.0.x' is compatible with MacOS X 10.1.5 to 10.4.3.
