Hotspot Shield comes with its own uninstaller program:

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=880292

Run that, then install the newest (or older) version.

FYI, not all programs install in a common location. More than likely, Hotspot Shield installs some items in your Startup Items folder, maybe an application bundle in /Applications, and perhaps a preference pane for controlling it as well. This is why an uninstaller is included (and should be located in the DMG that you download).

If you would of read what i wrote, i said i uninstalled it multiple times from the hotspot shield uninstaller.

run'd the installation again and this time the destination says "to all users" and no other option. maybe thats the problem although i have only 1 user?
