We had a bad storm come through with lightening and booming thunder. After that my Imac OS X Snow Leapord will not start. It was on a surge protector power strip. Nothing happens-no sounds, lights, etc. -tried all the recommended solutions online but nothing works. If i hold power button for about 20 seconds, a fan will will blow and will only stop when i pull the power cord. I have not put in the install DVD because i fear if i get it in, i would have no way to get it out. Have had the computer for about 15 months. I hate to lose another $50 (along with all my documents, pics, etc) just to hear that there is nothing to be done to help.On all the posts, I have not found one that says the fan will eventually blow out the the top which lets me know it is getting power. Please help. Thanks

The important part here is to follow the instructions for unplugging the power cord. Unplug ALL cords that might have any power, so unplug ALL cords, and wait 10 or 15 seconds before plugging anything back in.

If you try the PRAM reset - do you ever hear a boot chime sound? If you hear nothing, hold the same Option-Command-P & R keys for at least one minute.
Is your keyboard wireless, or is it USB (wired)?
