opening .DAT files

Hi,
I recently purchased a MacbookPro. I was a PC user until now. I'm in the process of transferring all my files into my Mac. I'm trying to copy my archived chats from Yahoo messenger onto the Mac and then open them but have been unable to do so. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

More than likely, the log files from Yahoo! Messenger for Windows are incompatible with the Yahoo! Messenger program for Mac.

Have you contacted Yahoo! about the correct procedure for transferring chat logs from a Windows machine to a Mac?
