I am trying to install the 10.4.9 upgrade on my powerpc G5 and I keep getting a message telling me that my startup disk doesn't meet the system requirements for that upgrade. I am using 10.4.11 now and have tried upgrading in increments to reach 10.4.9, but even 10.4.2 won't install. Any ideas? Thanks

You can't simply go back from 10.4.11 to an older update such as 10.4.9

I think you may not understand the numbering system for the updates.
It goes like this: 10.4.8, then 10.4.9, then 10.4.10, then 10.4.11
So, 10.4.2 is a much older update.
Anyway, OS X 10.4.11 is the newest (and last) system update, other than app and security updates.

Thanks, that helps a lot! Do you konw anything about Adobe Premier Pro? I'm trying to install it on my powerpc G5 but am having trouble, is this only compatible with an intel G5?

Yes, that's correct!
Adobe Premier Pro requires an intel Mac, and won't work at all on your G5.
You would have to go with another video editor, such as Final Cut Studio, or Final Cut Express, if you don't need every pro-level tool....

Well...if you want to get into semantics... ;)

Wouldn't the fifth generation Intel processor (at least within the x86 architecture) be considered the original Pentium processor? So in essence, that would be an "Intel 'G5'."

Yes, it's a lazy Sunday and I'm bored at home. :p

(Seriously though, MisterMe is right. There is no such thing as an "Intel G5." :))

okay this is exactly the problem im having now. I understand that 10.4.11 is the latest update, however I desperately need to go back to 10.4.9 because my pro tools application is not compatible with 10.4.11.

There's an update for ProTools that you can find here (link)

Hope that helps. And when your problem isn't actually the same as the original post, it wouldn't hurt to start a new thread in the future. No worries though. Good Luck.
