os x crash

i was downloading music into itunes, which wasn't allowing me to add all the files to my library. a message popped up saying my itunes library was corrupt and that is was creating a new file for my itunes.

at this point i decided to just restart my computer to see what would happen and my system preferences were completely reset, firefox no longer worked, safari doesn't allow me to visit myspace (i know I know) any longer.

the steps i've taken: i've completely deleted the music files that i think led to corruption. i've uninstalled firefox, and reinstalled os x. i'm not sure what to do next, i'm pretty far from being a mac expert.

How much disk space do you have left? OS X (and practically any other OS) usually likes to have at least 10% of free disk space, otherwise the OS gets a little testy.

Did you wait until all processes were complete, and then restart "safely" by choosing "Restart" from the Apple menu, or did you interrupt some process and restart "uncleanly" by either pulling the power and/or holding down the power button and restarting?
