osx quits apps without reason during sleep

hey. i just got a new g4, tiger osx,
haven't installed much software, etc

when i let it sleep, or when i just leave it for an hour, it's quit all the apps the i had running. and i was reading an article on that website, etc...
how can i stop this? anyone know what i'm missing. osx is new to me (i was a pc person before) so maybe i'm missing something. but i had used 9.2, before, and i don't remember macs just quitting things when you walk away form you computer
 
Is your computer set to automatically log you out after a specified amount of time? Check here:

System Preferences > Security > "Log out after XX minutes of inactivity"

Also, does it quit all the applications all the time whenever it enters sleep, or just some applications some of the time? To say, is it random or constant?
 
Wow! I wouldn't have figured that out. It was logging him/her out. Good call, EDCC.
