OSX updates

We have an eMac - OSX Version 10.3.9, 700MHz Power PCG4, 384MB. We need to update this as much as possible to accommodate a newer version of Office - now getting too many emails with attachments that are using more up to date software. What do I need to do?

Like Doctor X said, your next "upgrade" step is a paid upgrade. 10.3.9 is as far as you can go for free -- 10.4 costs money. It's free up to 10.4.11 -- then, 10.5 is another paid upgrade.

You can skip upgrades -- one can go from 10.3 directly to 10.5, skipping 10.4 totally.

10.5 requires an 867MHz processor, which you lack.

You'll want to get more RAM to that Mac as well. You can go with 2 x 512 MB pieces (specs in link).
10.4.11 is the newest OS that Mac will like - but newer and good enough when you'll have more RAM.

Thanks for all the replies - I think my husband will want to use this as an excuse to get a new mac!!
