ownership and permissions

with 10.3.9 i had no problem applying ownership and permissions to myself as system owner but, with 10.4.3 it keeps giving me an error code -36.

If you are the original admin account, you already are the system owner.

Can you elaborate more on what you're trying to do? Are you trying to change the permissions of the hard drive OS X is installed on? Are you doing the permission changing via the Terminal, or the "Get Info" window?
 
i,m trying to set the ownership and permissions through the "get info" window.
it always worked with os 10.3.9 but, i always get an error code -36 with 10.4
 
What are you trying to set ownership and permissions on? A certain file? A certain folder? An entire hard drive? Or does it do this whenever you try and change ownership and permissions on anything?
 
i,m trying to set the permissions for the hard drive and the same goes for the other users.
i really don,t know how i can elaborate any further...
