Hi everyone,

I have a iMac G5 (PowerPC) which shipped with MacOSX 10.4 "Tiger". It is currently upgraded to MacOSX 10.5.8 "Leopard". I am trying to reset it to factory settings, but did not have the OS discs that came with the machine.

I bought MacOSX install discs that have 10.4 "Tiger". When I run install disc 1, I am presented with the below error.

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002E54BC): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac8,2".

panic: We are hanging here...

I have read that this often occurs when the machine has been upgraded to Leopard. Other than that, there is really not that much information about this error.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are those disks all grey, or do they have a large X on them? The grey ones are machine specific, and wouldn't work for you.
