Hi,
I bought a mini for my kids and tried to set it up using parental controls, but came upon the problem where some things don't work as expected. In my case, neither MS messenger nor adium would log on from the managed account, but they would work ok from a standard account, among other things. I ended up setting my kids as standard users as opposed to managed users, which is less than ideal.
I have restricted my kids internet access by means of using a "limited/filtered" dns server, which I think (hope) will be sufficient for the time being (oldest kid just turned 10). However, I was looking forward to having parental controls automatically limit their computer time by setting a bed time and max number of hours in the computer,
My question I guess is twofold:
1. Is there a way to use a messenger program from a PC managed account?
2. If not and I end up ditching SLeopards Parental Controls altogether, what software out there would allow me to limit the kids access to the mini automatically, similarly to the intended apple way?
Thanks for your responses in advance.
Mario
