Password Lock

I just got me a New iMac with OS X( Hasn't Arrived yet !) and I was just wondering if u could log in with your own password (kind of like windows xp) and have customized icons

Yes, definitely. Each user you set up has a home directory (a la Unix) which contains:
- Desktop... All their desktop files
- Documents .... documents you want to keep to yourself
- Sites ... for web pages
- Public ... documents you want to be able to share with others
- Library ... all your user preferences are kept in here, inclusing dock icons and screen savers

The default setup of OS X usually just asks you to create an account and will automatically log you in to this account. All you have to do to change this is go to System Preferences and select Login to set up how you want to log in, and Users to create and delete users.
There are significant differences to Windows XP, most of them arising out of the Unix structure underneath OS X, but to the average user you won't notice these much. Just note that you cannot log out and leave programs running as you can in XP (for security reasons), but you can add programs to your login-items list and they'll come up every time.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy your new iMac. Welcome ...

:D :)

Oh, yes, and for custom icons, it's as easy as cut and paste. Find the icon you want. http://www.xicons.com/ is a good place to start. Then, once you have it on your mac, select it and use the Command-I key to bring up it's info. Select the icon in the info box, press command-C to copy it, then select the item you want to apply it to. Pick the icon in the show info box and hit command-V to paste the new icon over it.
You'll notice that some icons are not easily changed ... items outside your own home directory are usually protected. Drive icons tend not to change until you've logged out and back in. Dock icons and application icons require a little more trickery... Don't worry, it'll all make sense once you actually give it a try.
