Pioneer DVR110-D showing 0kb Cache

I have an older MAC G4 Mirror Drive 1.25Ghz system.

I also have a PC which had a Pioneer DVR-110D drive in it. I upgraded my PC and decided to put the Pioneer into the MAC since the MAC's drive only burnt CD's not DVD's.

I followed directions on this site to flash the firmware and worked fine. wiped out a DVD-RW and was able to burn a few files as a test.

However... the directions showed a 2000kb cache and mine shows 0kb.

Here are the directions... only difference being my firmware files were RB100010.141 and RB100110.141, directions showed RA not RB.

Any idea why it would appear as a 0kb cache and not 2mb? Under windows it was 2mb.

There's no need to flash a burner, just to swap from a PC to a Mac.
Is the burner working?
The cache not showing may be simply cosmetic, and not actually affecting anything.
That burner is more than 4 years old.
The more effective upgrade for your G4 would be a new burner, which would be much faster than the older drive that you have now. You can get a brand-new dual layer burner for less than $40 - one that you know will work, rather than installing a used one.

Most burners will work, if the correct bus connection...

Actually after 2 reboots the system shows a 2mb cache now. Though the first disc that I burnt with Toast Titanium 10, said it recorded fine, verified OK, but won't even show up when inserted in the drive.

I have the original drive now setup as a SLAVE and the disc appears in there. 2nd disc worked fine however so, will have to play by ear I suppose.

As for the upgrade... I upgraded my PC's burner with a new LG sata burner, this Pioneer was my old one. Until now, I had my MAC hooked up directly into my PC via ethernet and a bridged network connection on my PC and used my PC to burn files from my MAC directly. However, it doesn't always work with certain file types such as MAC Fonts, unless I compress the folder to a DMG first.

As for flashing, I read somewhere it needed done. When I installed the Pioneer with the most current firmware, it detected as a superdrive... initially. I walked away for a bit and came back with a disc to test with and although the Pioneer still appeared, it no longer appeared as a 'disc burning' under system profiler. So, followed the directions in the link (see OP) and now seems to be working.
