Hey guys,

i just plugged a wireless wifi USB client in my macbook,
what now?
how do i use it or install it.. lol

in windows im used to a popup that installs the driver and then u see it in hardware devices ect.

but in mac, how do i see if its installed or anything and use it..

the device is a ORiNOCO 8424 USB Adapter. (for wifi)

help please :(

Click on "About this Mac" under the blue apple
Click on "More info..."
Click on "USB" under hardware
There are three USB channels and one High Speed USB
It should appear under one of the USB channels if the MAC can see it.

The 'other' question is - Why do you need it? Your MacBook has a wireless card built-in (Airport Extreme 802.11b/g).
Is your Airport card not working?

this is what i see:

v USB Bus
Apple internal keyboard / trackpad

v USB Bus
USB device

v USB Bus
IR reciever

v USB Bus
Bluetooth HCI

v High-speed Bus Bus
Built-in iSight

so i guess my mac doesnt regonise it, what do i do ? :/ help again plz, thanks a bunch

i bought this Orinoco usb card so i can sniff passive, since passive sniffing isnt support yet for intel based macs (airport extreme)

According to their site, it's only supported by XP. You'll probably need to install bootcamp or parallels to run it. They may have a driver download for OS X anyways, but I don't want to register on their site just to view the downloads section..

01. Unplug the not needed 'Windoze XP' only Orinoco 8424 USB adapter.
02. 'what do i do ?' - answer DeltaMac's questions.

Bit jumpy, today, barhar? My question was answered (sort of)
Installing Windows would do the trick, I suppose, if passive sniffing is supported through the hardware.
