Power Problems

Hi there i have a g3 power mac and i have just put a dvd drive to replace the cd rom and after i put it in my mac now dosent shut down properly and also my dvd drive seems to turn its self of and i cant open the drive. Could i have maybe knocked something inside the power mac. When i turn the mac off it stays on the blank screen and just the wallpaper with the circle in the middle spinning round any ideas

Did you set the jumpers on the new DVD drive correctly?

we kept them the same as the ones on the old cd drive?

What is the model of the DVD drive you installed? What exact model of G3 (there were a lot of them!)?

Disconnect both Power and IDE cables from the drive and see if the problems are gone.
