Powerbook Adapter-cord loses itself.

I dunno know if the question has been raised already but on my old PB G4 the wellknown PB adapter cord doesn't connect well into the entrance on the leftside of my 'old'Alu.G4 PB 15 inch 1 GHZ.
Its seems the Adapter piece is somewhat broken.
My garantee(normal no Applecare) has expired after 1 year ( 1 year and 3 months)BUT i think it should last when used normal for at least 2 years. Nevertheless the store said i should buy a new one and they cannot give a replacement for free.

Anyone similar experiences and if this is right that they don't have to give you a replacement for free?

I've never had that problem with any adapters nor do I know anyone who has had problems with the adapters. YMMV, of course.

This is concerning models older than yours, but seems to be an inherent problem with the yo-yo style power adaptors that Apple ships:
