Powerbook G4 1.5 12" Won't Turn On After Installing Superdrive

Hi, I'm really hoping someone can help me.

I've replaced the Combo Drive that came with my Powerbook G4 1.5 12" with a SuperDrive.

After piecing the unit back together, the SuperDrive was recognized, but my Airport card and modem were not.

I opened the unit up again, made sure everything was connected securely, and the unit wouldn't power on.

I opened it AGAIN, checked everything, and I was able to get the grey Apple screen, then the system went black- completely powered off.

Any ideas? I'm at my wit's end!

Thank you!

and if you replace everything (including the combodrive) exactly the way it was when you bought it?

That's a tough one! I would take it all apart again, and look some more, it's probably a connector or cable, but by this time could be more serious, up to the logic board. Tricky little guys, aren't they?
So you saved $200 by getting one without SuperDrive, and you can now look forward to major expense, because Apple will not fix this under warranty after a botched repair attempt. (less than 2 months old, too.. tsk)
Take this to an Apple repair center, and see what you can talk them into doing.
I know, some of this is not helpful. Hope you find something simple, and don't have to spend half the cost to get it fixed.

how about putting it all together and never mention to them that you have opened it? and we on this thread can promise to keep quiet.

This has been resolved! I walked through disassembly again and found that the pins that connect the DC-to-DC board were not properly seated in the Logic Board. Thank you for all of your suggestions! I know I'm retarded! If anyone else is considering replacing their optical drive in their Powerbook I have a little advice: Get an external drive! Thanks again, everyone.
