Hey guys. I've read through all the official documentation but am still a little fuzzy. I'm about to order 2x512mb high density (16 chip type) memory modules for my powermac Dual G4 500 and was wondering if anyone knew if they would work. Right now it has a hodge-podge of different 128mb sticks in it..none of them matching so I wanted to bring it up to the 2GB limit with 4x512mb PC133/100. I believe the PC133 should clock down to 100 and the voltage is 3.3v.

Anyone have any experience with these puppies that could help me out :)
 
You should be fine. Just make sure that it IS backwards compatible. I've heard of instances where some PC-133 RAM were not backwards compatible to PC-100 in order to sell them at a cheaper cost.
 
Let's test your knowledge....Heh.. What if I were to buy 512mb ECC Registered ram (due to price difference) and install it. I know I wouldn't be able to mix ECC with non-ECC but should the PowerMac just see it as Non-ECC since it doesn't support ECC and run it just the same?
 
I used to be up on these things but these days I just feel so confused. Check this out.

but the seller states that they are not compatible with Apple Computers, Hmm..so he recommends this auction:

The specs are identical! What gives? Is he just trying to get more $$ out of me?

One is CAS Level 3 (CL-3) while the other is CAS Level 2 (CL-2). CL-2 RAM is considered to have less latency than CL-3 RAM, and is usually a little more expensive.
 
As far as i can find out for you, you need cl2 for that system, not cs3. cs3 is slower, so it will NOT work properly (or even at all).

So return and by cl2 memory.
