PowerMac G4 400mhz, which chipset for wireless PCI card?

I found a list of compatible cards but am wondering what chipset will be compatible with my old PowerMac G4 400mhz. I believe the drivers available through OS X work with the broadcom chipset only? I also found that Orangeware made a driver that works with PCI cards that use the Atheros chipset. Is this only a driver issue or is it a hardware issue, as in my old PowerMac G4 400mhz can only use a specific card with a specific chipset?
